An Outward Bound residential takes young people out of their comfort zones, showing them that they are capable of more than they ever thought possible - and to help them even further on their journey, their achievements are recognised as our programmes are SCQF credit-rated.
Our locations are wild, and our adventures are authentic.
With centres in Snowdonia, the Lake District and Scottish Highlands, our residentials are always packed with big adventures and even bigger learning opportunities.
Adventure & Challenge Award
The 5-day residential is SCQF level 5 credit rated with 5 credit points. The course inspires young people to become strong, resilient and curious – ready for the challenges of life.
The award comprises of 7 units:
- Improve confidence to overcome new challenges.
- Develop skills in setting and achieving personal goals.
- Increase self-awareness and personal responsibility.
- Increase awareness of other people.
- Improve ability to work and communicate with other people.
- Increase concern for and awareness of the natural environment.
- Develop an action plan.

Wild Locations
We believe that the best learning is in the wild. Our centres are based in some of the wildest and most spectacular places in the UK - but still have all the comforts you need after a long day in the great outdoors!
A Taste of the Wild
Join us at one of our free School Leader Taster Courses, with like-minded education professionals. Each offers an immersive experience of Outward Bound with a focus on a topical theme
- Developing wellbeing and resilience. 1-2 November 2024 at Loch Eil, Scottish Highlands
- Building character and cultural capital. 14-15 March 2025 at Aberdovey, Snowdonia
