Pastoral Care Night Supervisor
PASTORAL CARE NIGHT SUPERVISOR: Ullswater and howtown
We're looking for Pastoral Care Night Supervisors, who will be responsible for the immediate safety and security of our Ullswater and Howtown centres and the young people on residential courses.
The Pastoral Care Night Supervisors are responsible for patrolling both inside and outside our residential centre throughout the night and alerts the ‘sleep in’ Duty Instructor of any problems/incidents.
Location: Outward Bound Ullswater and Howtown.
Salary: £29,952 for 48 hour week (3 shifts) or £19,968 for 32 hour week (2 shifts). Based on Real Living wage currently £12.00/hour. Permanent position.
Shift pattern / hours of work: The Pastoral Care Night Supervisor will work a 16 hour shift between the hours of 1700-0900.
There is a choice of contracts available:
- 48 hour week consisting of 3 x 16 hour shifts, or
- 32 hour week consisting of 2 x 16 hour shifts.
The role involves having a visual presence across the site and being on call for the full period of the shift. Depending on the shift this may allow for sleeping once the centre is quiet and any security and tasks supporting the hospitality team have been completed.
During school term time most of these nights will be Monday – Thursday with limited weekend work. However, during the summer holidays July - August more weekend shifts will need to be covered.
Who we're looking for
As you’ll be responsible for looking after any problems at our residential centre overnight, we need someone who is at least 18 years old with a mature approach.
The postholder must:
- Have the ability and skills to build positive rapport with the young people and ensure the young people feel supported and cared for whilst they are under their supervision.
- Have experience of working or volunteering with young people and being accountable for their wellbeing.
- Be able to relate to and communicate with all types of people.
- Be happy to work unsupervised and to take instructions from more experienced staff/team.
- Have great organisational skills.
- Be confident and able to act with authority.
- Be able to work effectively in a busy environment.
- Be able to work long night shifts.
- Be helpful, friendly, and reliable.
