Steve John - Ullswater, The Lake District, 1989

I spent three great weeks with an MoD apprentice group at Ullswater from 22 July until 10 August 1989. Our experiences in hill-walking, especially up Scafell, Scafell Pike, High Rise, Helvellyn, Blencathra and other peaks, still rank as some of the best things I have ever done in my life, as well as the pot-holing, abseiling and sail training etc. I lost a stone in that time and came home to west Wales fitter than I'd ever been. Sadly after all these years I cannot remember the names of the other group members, only a few first names, Mick and Scott, two Scottish apprentices spring to mind. We had a great group, all of which are in the attached photo.
