Robert Prabucki - Ullswater, The Lake District, 1966

The shock of doing exercise very early in the morning, running naked along a jetty and jumping into a very cold lake was soon overcome. The need to carry a heavy rucksack over long distances and arduous terrain took a little longer. One exercise was the 24 hours alone exercise which brought together many of the skills that had been taught but it also generated self confidence. My wife often says that I have a belief that I could do anything "just give me the book". That's not really true (well almost) but I believe that attitude has come from my brilliant time at Ullswater. Being in the mountains, helping and working with others and trying out new experiences on Outward Bound gave my a life long legacy of self confidence and a "can do" approach.
