I attended Holne Park during August 1975. I was a fresh faced apprentice telephone engineer, with Telephone Rentals Ltd, who was sponsored by my employer as part of the apprenticeship scheme to complete the four week classic course.

I have enclosed the course photograph and the patrol photograph.

The patrol consisted of:

Standing from L-R:

D Daly. Bernie Groves. John Kennedy (me). Frank Jacas. J Davis. Parvaiz Kayani. Chris Scales. Dave Tolson (instructor).

Seated from L-R

Dave Lane (Another telephone Rentals Apprentice). T Kirby. Chris Jones. Goff Todd. Andy Sparks. Paul Haslam.

35 years on it is difficult to pick out one favourite moment, the walking and navigating on Dartmoor, pot-holing and canoeing were all great experiences, the three day volunteering at a local mental hospital, the cold River Dart experienced most mornings all still remain vibrant memories.

The staff who took care of us, Dave and Geoff were gentlemen who coped with our needs and delivered the experiences that have remained with me and enabled me to continue to develop as a rounded individual who has completed 30 years police service and is now a school teacher in a secondary school in Chelmsley Wood Birmingham.
