Dennis Robinson - Moray Sea School, Burghead Scotland, 1958

I was selected to go on the course by The Admiralty as I was completing an apprenticeship in Portsmouth Dockyard in electrical engineering.
I loved every minute of the month spent at Burghead particularly the expedition into the Cairngorms and the athletics. The sailing was strangely the most difficult as I already owned a small boat, but had never been subjected to the discipline associated with sailing the naval cutters. The trip on the Prince Louis was memorable for the lack of wind and the associated heavy swell which had everyone experiencing seasickness.
I learned as much or perhaps more from my moments of failure, and I like to think that all that I subsequently achieved in my career was due to the determination that the course gave me. I was really sad to go home!
