Mark Scott Award

Thank you for your interest in the Award.

If you’re in S6 at a participating Scottish school, you can apply for a place by selecting your school from the list below.

The programme begins in your autumn term (between August and the October break) with a preparation session, followed by a 5-day residential adventure and team-building course at the Outward Bound Centre in Fort William. Afterwards, you’ll work on your community project over the next few months, supported by your project coordinator and team.

Taking part is a commitment – but one that’s worth it. You’ll need to:

  • Join short weekly group meetings
  • Research and help organise your community project (mostly online, by email or phone)
  • Work as a team to plan and deliver a service for your community
  • Be ready for an adventurous and challenging 5-day residential course at Outward Bound

The full programme includes:

  • A pre-course meeting
  • The 5-day residential adventure
  • Weekly project meetings with your team
  • An evening Project Forum to share ideas
  • Up to 3 project delivery days in your community
  • A final review meeting to reflect on everything you’ve achieved

You’ll need to put in time and effort. But you’ll come away with new skills, new friends and the experience of doing something real for your community.

The information you provide on the form will be processed in line with our privacy policy.
