Confidence. Community. A stronger sense of self.

The Mark Scott Award gives young people in Scotland the tools to step into adulthood with purpose. It’s more than just a development course – it’s a defining moment.

Over two decades, more than 3,500 young people across Scotland have taken part. Many say it changed their lives. But the Award is only possible thanks to people who believe in what young people can achieve – people like you.

What is the Award?

The Award is a free*, two-part programme for young people in their final year of school. It begins with a week of outdoor training with dedicated staff at our Loch Eil Centre and ends with a supervised student-led project that makes a real difference in their local community while allowing the participants to grow, develop and use the skills they have learned in theory in training, in a practical and real environment.

By the end, participants have built skills in leadership, communication and organisation – and something even more important: understanding of and belief in themselves. and they have helped their community at the same time.

In addition, following participation, graduates are increasingly likely to go on to volunteer within their communities, benefiting a wider community for years after their participation.

Why your support matters

We run the Award at no cost to participants other than the admin fee. That’s only possible thanks to donations. This fee is often paid for by schools for the families most in need, but retains the value to a young person where a ‘free course’ might be easily walked away from.

When you support the Mark Scott Award, you’re supporting young people in Scotland at a pivotal moment, helping them build resilience, step up, and give back to their communities, and encouraging them to act on their values and be active in creating stronger caring communities of the future.

Your gift today could fund a place on the programme. It could shape a young person’s future.
