Construction work on our new learning village at Loch Eil is well underway!

Our brand-new million-pound learning village is expected to be completed in early 2025 and consist of five new buildings around a landscaped outdoor seating area for our young people to think and reflect about the triumphs, achievements and setbacks they've experienced during their course.

David Exeter, our Head of Centre at Loch Eil explains what it's all about: “Outward Bound is a movement, so we are continuously maintaining and improving the experience we offer here at Loch Eil. By investing in the development of our learning village we can be even more confident in the impact we have on young people. Giving them a comfortable and inviting space that allows them to reflect on all of the joy, self-discovery, new connections and lasting memories they have made out in the wild.”

Every year, around 5,500 young people visit our Loch Eil centre to participate in residential programmes; having a space for them to think, reflect and review their experience is a vital element of their Outward Bound experience. This is about more than just providing a warm, dry and comfortable space away from the elements though; it is about creating an environment that is inspiring and uplifting so young people feel able to open up and discuss their learning so they can begin to apply it back home.

For anyone curious, the design of our learning village is being overseen by Kearney Donald Partnership, with construction undertaken by Corrigan Contractors and project management from Samuel & Partners.

We are beyond grateful to our kind and generous supporters who have made this development possible, we can't wait to see it completed!
