At Outward Bound, young people don’t sit in classrooms all day. They’re outdoors: paddling across lakes, hiking along ridges, lighting campfires, and navigating new challenges with a team of friends from around the world.

Travelling to your Summer Adventure

We know that travelling to another country can feel like a big step, both for young people and for their parents.

You will find guidance on:

  • Planning your journey to the UK – which airports and routes work best for our centres
  • Getting to the centre – options for onward travel within the UK, bus transfer booking and what support we can offer
  • UK Border paperwork – You will need to print off and bring with you UK boarder paperwork for the relevant airport/location.

Our team are here to help you feel prepared and confident about every stage of the journey.

Plan your journey

Which course is right for you?

Our summer adventures are designed for different ages and levels of experience, from first-time adventurers to those ready for a bigger challenge.

Unsure of which course level?

We have four levels of adventures: Basecamp, Ridge, Summit and Pinnacle. These cover a range of difficulty levels and ages.

Make friends from around the world

Many young people arrive not knowing anyone. They leave with friends they’ve climbed mountains and friendships that often last long after summer ends.

On course, young people:

  • live and explore in a small group with others their own age
  • share challenges, successes and a lot of laughter
  • support each other when things feel tough or new.

It’s an easy place to belong, especially for those who might be shy at home.
