Trusts Fundraiser

Salary: £21,000 - £27,000 p.a. subject to experience, plus bonus and benefits. 37.5 hour week.
Location: Hackthorpe, Cumbria

The Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity providing adventure-based, outdoor learning for young people from six centres across the UK.  Last year 23,000 young people completed an Outward Bound course, of which 80% were disadvantaged or faced personal challenges and benefited from a bursary supported course.

The Trust is a growing organisation, which promotes a culture of high-performance, individual career development and team satisfaction.  HRH The Duke of York is Chairman of the Board of Trustees and is actively involved, as are all of our Trustees.  The Senior Management Team is supportive, approachable and forward thinking.

Overview of the Fundraising Team

The Fundraising team raises over £7m a year to support bursary supported places for disadvantaged young people on our personal development courses and towards capital requirements across The Trust's centres.  We raise funds from high net worth individuals, corporate organisations, charitable trusts and foundations, through high quality events and legacy giving.

The majority of the 17 strong team is based at Waterloo, London, while our three person Trusts and Foundations team is at the Head Office in Hackthorpe, Cumbria.

Purpose of the Job

The Outward Bound Trust’s strategic plan to 2020 sees The Trust grow substantially to work with 30,000 young people a year and involves the acquisition of a seventh residential centre.  Fundraising is crucial to the delivery of this strategy and the Trusts and Foundations team will raise over £2.5m in this period.  The Trusts Fundraiser will support growth in income to achieve this through excellent stewardship and uplift of our existing trusts supporters plus the research and recruitment of new trusts donors to further augment our strong portfolio.
