FREE Taster course: preparing young people for work
27-28 April 2018 at Loch Eil, The Highlands
Developing the young workforce through outdoor learning
We are hosting a free taster course at our Loch Eil centre for head and deputy head teachers, DYW leads, educational professionals, apprenticeship providers, and employers who have an interest in developing employability skills, as well as key personal skills, in the young people in their sectors.
This taster course will provide you with the opportunity to see first-hand what it is we do at The Outward Bound Trust in helping to prepare young people for work, as well as the chance for you to visit one of our centres and meet our expert instructors.
You will also meet with like-minded colleagues and peers from other schools and organisations that have an interest in developing employability and key personal skills, so there will be plenty of opportunities for networking and exploring future partnerships. All food, equipment and accommodation are provided free of charge.
Feedback from employers and schools who have used The Outward Bound Trust to develop employability skills:
“They seem to act more grown up afterwards. I think the thing is, what tends to happen, is they see the big picture, not just what’s in front of them... and how everything all fits in and slots in together. So I think that’s where it makes them aware.” Line Manager, Unilever
“The pupils are more tolerant of differences, and when something didn’t go as planned, they learnt how to work around it. Hopefully they will work harder in school, which will lead to better grades.” Emma Hobbs, Deputy Head Teacher, Rokeby School
