The Outward Bound Trust Awarded International Carbon Footprint Certification

The Outward Bound Trust has become one of the first organisations in the UK to be awarded the Carbon Emissions Management and Reductions (CEMARS) certification.  The certificate was presented to The Trust by Achilles during the Outward Bound Charity Challenge Awards Ceremony held last week at St. James Palace. The Outward Bound Trust successfully completed the process via the Achilles carbonReduction programme which measures and monitors carbon emissions for companies and organisations.

"The Outward Bound Trust works with thousands of young people every year and our 'classrooms' are the most dramatic and beautiful wild places in this country" commented Nick Barrett, CEO of The Outward Bound Trust. As such we are determined to act in a way that reduces our impact on such fragile environments.  We are delighted and proud to have become early adopters of the Achilles run Carbon Emissions Management and Reduction Scheme (CEMARS). It is an important way of living our values as an organisation."

The carbonReduction programme, delivered by Achilles, allows organisations to measure, manage, report and verify their organisational carbon emissions and provides a basis for identifying opportunities to manage and reduce emissions.   The measurement tool of the programme is consistent with the requirements of the international standards: Greenhouse Gas Protocol for corporate accounting and reporting, and ISO 14064-1.

"Achilles has been a proud sponsor of The Trust for many years and we are delighted that we have been able to support the organisation by measuring their carbon footprint via our carbonReduction programme," said Colin Maund, CEO of Achilles.
