David Jensen becomes Ambassador for The Outward Bound Trust
Legendary broadcaster and DJ David 'Kid' Jensen has became an Ambassador for The Outward Bound Trust, the UK’s leading provider of experiential learning in the outdoors. David will help The Trust to continue its work in inspiring young people to fulfill their potential through challenging outdoor experiences, raising self-esteem and preparing them to face the future with confidence.
David rose to fame when he joined Radio Luxemburg at just 18 years old, making him the youngest DJ in Europe, and has since enjoyed an illustrious 41 year career in the industry, working with and interviewing some of the biggest acts in the world, including The Rolling Stones, The Police, Britney Spears and Take That, as well as presenting UK television’s biggest music show, Top of the Pops.
David will now work closely with the fundraising team at The Outward Bound Trust to help raise awareness of the charity’s work. He recently got a taste of what was to come when he took the role of compere at The Trust’s annual gala dinner.
David Jensen comments: "I consider my new role at The Outward Bound Trust to be an absolute honour and privilege. Having participated in an Outward Bound® programme many years ago in Wales I was able to witness first hand the importance of team work and discipline. I was also struck by the passion and commitment of the instructors. My abiding memories are of a dedicated group of experts able to challenge individuals by taking participants out of their comfort zones and providing them with lasting lessons and exhilarating memories.
“I hope that by adding my support to The Outward Bound Trust we can raise awareness and funds to give more young people access to the type of life changing experience that I enjoyed.”
Nick Barrett, chief executive of The Outward Bound Trust, comments: “We are delighted that David Jensen has decided to join The Trust as an Ambassador, to help us bring outdoor experiences to more young people around the country. David can share his direct knowledge of how an Outward Bound® course builds confidence and helps young people to develop important skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.”
