Scholarships | The Outward Bound Trust
An Outward Bound® Scholarship can’t be bought – they are earned.
The skills I've learnt throughout my Skills for Life Award course will benefit me massively as I enter my final year at 6th form and prepare for university. The memories I have created on the course and the friends I have made, will last a life time. Skills for Life Award participant
An Outward Bound scholarship will take you to new places, introduce you to new people, fine tune your skills and confidence, and help you to stand out in an ever more competitive world.
Every scholarship awarded is worth up to £250 towards an Outward Bound Skills for Life Award place.*
The total amount awarded to each scholarship is not based on financial circumstance; but rather a young persons appetite for personal development through outdoor learning based on the strength of their character and willingness to try new things.
There are two ways to get your hands on an Outward Bound Scholarship:
1. By demonstrating outstanding achievement during an Outward Bound education course:
Every year our instructors award a limited number of scholarships to participants who have visited our centres with their school or college in recognition of their enormous potential.
2. By applying directly for a scholarship place online:
There are also a limited number of scholarships available to young people to apply for online. Created specifically for those looking for an exciting and challenging personal adventure, but whom may not be able to fundraise the total amount themselves.**
To apply, simply complete the form on this page
All Scholarship recipients are subject to standard T&C’s including medical screening and enrolment criteria. They will also need to pay a £99 deposit to secure their place and be able to pay for or fundraise towards the outstanding balance.
Places are limited, so make sure you apply early!
