Outward Bound courses are delivered at our own dedicated training facilities – a choice of five centres located across England, Scotland and Wales. Every centre is in an impressive mountain location, each has its unique character, and all are managed and staffed by an experienced and knowledgeable team of trainers.
Wales - Snowdonia
Aberdovey
The Welsh Centre, close to the coastal village of Aberdovey, has spectacular views over the Dyfi estuary. Water activities are based at our specialist wharf facility. Our expeditions and rock climbing are in quiet, remote mountains and sea cliffs close to the centre. Forest cabins are available for overnight expeditions.

England - The Lake District
Ullswater
This Georgian mansion, on the north shore of Ullswater, is set in 18 acres of woodland at the heart of Wordsworth country. Centre-based participants might canoe or kayak on the lake and could enjoy a stay in our high mountain lodge as part of an expedition, nestling under Helvellyn - one of The Lake District's highest peaks. Courses at Outward Bound Ullswater can also include rock climbing and ropes courses.

Howtown
Our newest centre, Howtown, with its purpose built accommodation, is situated on the southern side of Ullswater. Backed by the imposing ridge of the High Street fells, this is an inspirational place to be based. Originally built in 1896 as a country retreat, this impressive hall was converted into a centre for Outward Bound in 1950. Located on the edge of Eskdale Green village, the centre sits just west of the highest peaks in the Lake District National Park.

Eskdale
Gate House was built in 1896 as a country retreat and converted into an Outward Bound centre in 1950. With 60 acres of landscaped grounds, stunning views of some of the highest summits in England and the picturesque village of Eskdale Green just down the road it's an ideal venue for our development courses.

Travelling to Eskdale - We strongly advise that you do not follow routes provided by Sat Nav or GPS equipment when travelling to Eskdale. The directions provided below outline the easiest and most direct route to the venue. From North or South take the A595, Cumbria coast road to Holmrook. From the South (exit M6 Junction 36), there is also the option of the scenic Birker Fell road; (leave the A595 near Broughton in Furness at Duddon Bridge via Ulpha), which is rewarding for its views and takes just over an hour from Junction 36.
Scotland - The Highlands
Loch Eil
This centre is in the heart of a wild and spectacular landscape, situated on the edge of Loch Eil, with views of Ben Nevis.· The town of Fort William is nearby, and there is easy access to some of the most impressive lochs and mountains of western Scotland.
