Sir Chris Bonington CVO, CBE 

Sir Chris Bonington CVO, CBE, DL

One of Britain's best-known mountaineers, Sir Chris Bonington has led and been on 19 Himalayan expeditions, including four to Everest and has made many first ascents in The Alps and greater ranges of the world. He has published 14 books and has presented/appeared in many relevant television programmes.  He is also a Non Exec Chairman of Berghaus. Sir Chris has been a Trustee of The Trust since 1997 and appointed Deputy Patron in 2009.

 The Lord Kirkham CVO

The Lord Kirkham CVO

Lord Graham Kirkham founded DFS, the furniture manufacturing and retail business in 1969; selling it to a private equity company in 2010. He now runs a private family investment company Black Diamond and has interests in retail parks, properties and farming. He was honoured with a Knighthood in 1995, followed by a Peerage in 1999. He also received the CVO in the Queen's Birthday Honours List 2001. Lord Kirkham became a Trustee in 1995.

Ian Ashman 

Ian Ashman

Ian Ashman has been Principal of Hackney Community College since 2007. Under his leadership, the college has received national recognition for its involvement in the London 2012 Olympic Games. He is currently working with large and small technology companies, creating new apprenticeship schemes to help bridge the skills gap of London’s Tech City. Ian was appointed a Trustee of The Trust in 2013.

 Dr Nicholas Gair

Dr Nicholas Gair

Nick is the Chief Executive of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain. He's also known for his work in Outdoor Leadership and published many papers and articles in the educational press. Nick is a Freeman of the Company of Educators, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and Member of the College of Teachers. Appointed a Trustee in 2013.

 Ian Gowrie-Smith

Ian Gowrie-Smith

Ian's business career has focused on investing in opportunities in the private sector and then taking them to the public markets. He's best known for having founded and chaired two listed companies in the pharmaceutical sector, Medeva PLC and Skyepharma PLC.  More recently his focus has returned to the mining, oil and gas sectors, with exploration and production. Appointed a Trustee in 2007.

 Philippa Kramer

Philippa Kramer

Philippa is HR Director at Johnson Matthey and has worked in HR for 18 years. She first became a supporter of The Trust when working as the Northern European Regional HR Director for AkzoNobel and established a close partnership with the charity, to deliver leadership programmes and initiatives for their employees. Appointed a Trustee in December 2013.

 Fasha Mahoor

Fasha Mahjoor

Founder and CEO of Phenomenex, global leader in the research, development, manufacturing and distribution of analytical scientific solutions, and Neoteryx, provider of microsampling services and devices for the collection and analysis of biological fluids. Voted as one of the top 100 most influential people in the analytical science industry, Fasha oversees these global organizations, both with unique and vibrant cultures, and each dedicated to the advancement of the sciences and defined by an enormous passion and investment in supporting worthy philanthropic causes.

 Dame Louise Makin

Dame Louise Makin

Louise joined BTG as Chief Executive Officer in October 2004 and has led the transformation of BTG from an IP commercialisation business into an international specialist healthcare company. Louise has an MBA, and holds an MA in Natural Sciences and a PhD in Metallurgy from the University of Cambridge. She's also a non-executive director of Intertek Group plc and Woodford Patient Capital Trust and is an Honorary Fellow of St John’s College Cambridge. Appointed a Trustee of The Trust in 2011.

 Colin Maund

Colin Maund

Colin was a graduate from the London School of Economics. Chairman of Achilles Group, he set up the company in the UK in 1993 and was responsible for its international growth into 26 countries. He's founded several businesses in his career and is currently CEO of Hellios Information.  In 2009 he was awarded UK Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for IT Services. Colin has supported The Trust for many years, initally as a Patron Company Member and corporate client, utilising Outward Bound training programmes to develop his new employees, and since 2012 as a Trustee.

 Charles Philipps

Charles Philipps

Charles Philipps trained as a chartered accountant and then moved into investment banking.  He was instrumental in the formation of Amlin plc of which he has been Chief Executive since 1999 and which was sold to Mitsui Sumitomo of Japan in 2016.  He has served on the Council of Lloyd’s and was President of the Insurance Institute of London.  He is also a non-executive director of Great Portland Estates plc.  He was appointed a Trustee of The Trust in December 2010.

Caroline Sellar

Caroline Sellar

Caroline graduated from The London College of Fashion in 1999 with a BA (Hons) and went on to work closely with Joseph Ettedgui of JOSEPH in London and Paris. After completing a graduate diploma in law in 2006 she joined the Sellar Property Group team. Caroline is SPG's Commercial Director and works closely with the development, investment and asset management teams alongside marketing and events. She oversees the operations of SPG's hotels and is a Director of the View from the Shard. Appointed a Trustee of The Trust in 2013.

 Dick Watson

Dick Watson

In 1971 Dick joined Terry Bramall at Bramall & Ogden and went to form Keepmoat in 1986. It became one of the UK's leading regeneration and social housing specialists.  Dick remained with Keepmoat for 36 years, retiring from the company in 2007.  He is president, director and part owner of Doncaster Rovers FC.  He’s also a Director of Club Doncaster Ltd. Dick was appointed a Trustee in 2008.

Guy Williams

Guy was appointed Managing Director Northern Europe for global business AkzoNobel in 2011. In 2013, he was given responsibility for the Global Sales Excellence function to enable AkzoNobel to strategically develop and drive a clear sales and category management strategy. Prior to joining AkzoNobel Guy held a number of roles across major retailers. Appointed a Trustee in 2014.

Terence Mordaunt

Terence started his career as a deck apprentice in the Merchant Navy, before moving into distribution and becoming distribution manager for Alcan UK.  In the late 80's he started his own company, First Corporate Consultants and in 1991, with his partner David Ord, purchased the Avonmouth and Royal Portbury Docks.  Terence is a qualified Master Mariner and a Chartered Shipbroker. Chairman of The Bristol Port Company and Pendennis Shipyard Limited. Appointed a Trustee in 2015.

Christine Scullion

Christine is Head of Development at The Robertson Trust, where she’s worked for the past 15 years.  As a teenager, she attended several Outward Bound courses, which had such a profound effect on her, that after completing her degree and postgraduate Certificate in Education, went on become an Outward Bound instructor. She worked at The Trust for four years, before moving on to work with young people with disabilities. Chairman of the Prince’s Trust Highlands and Islands Committee and recently Chair of the Outward Bound Council in Scotland. Christine was appointed a Trustee in 2015.
