First Challenge
The ideal first residential experience for primary pupils. A powerful mix of adventure, learning and fun. Helping pupils acquire new skills and overcome obstacles.
Ages: 9-11, Year 5-6 / P6-7
Locations: Loch Eil, Aberdovey, Ullswater & Howtown
Year Group Induction
Increased awareness with a boost to self-confidence. Building effective teams & creating a common bond for pupils from different feeder schools.
Ages: 11-12, Year 7 / S1

Adventure & Challenge
Pushing the boundaries. This course is about young people pushing themselves beyond their expectations, achieving things that they never thought possible.
Ages: 11-20, Year 7-13 / S1-6
Locations: Loch Eil, Aberdovey, Ullswater & Howtown
Teams & Leaders
Exploring capabilities, broadening horizons. This course goes up a level, encouraging participants to explore their capabilities and broaden their horizons.
Ages: 12-18, Year 8-13 / S2-6

Snow & Ice
One for the thrill-seekers amongst us. This is full-on winter mountaineering which captures Scotland’s beautiful, yet tough snow and ice environment at its limit.
Ages: 16-24

Outward Bound® Metro serves schools and youth groups in central Scotland, providing tailor-made Outward Bound® experiences to meet the particular needs of young people living in urban areas. In addition to the courses detailed below, we are always happy to discuss tailoring the Metro programme to deliver your specific objectives.
Education Courses - Central Scotland
Facing Challenges
For those who are about to make or have just made the transition from primary to secondary school. The course is designed for young people at risk of failing to positively engage in secondary education because of pressures they face or personal and social barriers.
Ages: 10-12 years, P7 to S1
Achieving Goals
For those who find engaging with formal education a challenge and are at risk of falling into the NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training) Category.
Ages: 13-16 years, S3 to S5
Team Challenge Day
A stand-alone event that enables participants to explore what makes a team effective and to develop team working skills.
Ages: 10-17 years, P7 to S6
Metro Residential
Tailor-made to meet the aims and objectives of your group run from small venues, often in remote rural locations where the group will have sole use.
Ages: 10-17 years, P7 to S6
Youth Courses - Central Scotland
Adventure & Exploration
Where participants learn about themselves and explore their place in society.
Ages: 12-18 years
Adventure & Discovery
Enables a group of peers to develop friendships and become an effective team.
Ages: 14-20 years
Metro Activity Day
Often used as stand alone experiences, a series of opportunities available to a youth group (eg, for a holiday programme) or as a series of days for a particular group as part of their activity programme.

The 'I Can' Residential
Often part of a youth group or youth organisations’ programme. The ‘I Can’ programme is designed to give participants the opportunity to enjoy and experience a variety of adventurous and challenging activities in a safe and supportive environment.
